Visual Identity Web Site Launches
December 11, 2006
On December 8, 2006, the IU Office of University Marketing and the IU Office of Creative Services were pleased to announce the launch of the new Visual Identity Web site, a space where Indiana University’s image guidelines—including recommended logos, typography, colors, and signatures—are clearly explained and easily accessible.
Now departments and colleges from all of IU’s eight campuses can access information about how to use the IU logo, known as the “Block IU;” find helpful information about print, Web, and broadcast standards; view a color palette of recommended shades of the IU cream and crimson (and suggested secondary color palettes), and download branding bars, logos, and signatures. IU’s new Visual Identity site can bring all of our campuses together through some underlying, unifying elements while allowing the individuality of each department, college, and campus to shine through.
When the Trustees of Indiana University sought to unify the university’s image with a cohesive set of Visual Identity guidelines, they asked University Marketing to create and articulate a comprehensive brand image. Creative Services worked closely with University Marketing to create a new Web site that would clearly explain these guidelines, providing plenty of examples and downloads.
It will likely take time to implement these changes across all of IU’s campuses, but university officials are confident that eventually, the Visual Identity guidelines will be applied across the board, helping IU to present a memorable, consistent, and clear image.
